Wetland plants originate in a unique ecosystems including bogs, swamps, marshes, and estuaries. These plants are adapted to live in water-saturated soil and therefore tolerate bad drainage and flooding.
Wetland plants look natural when added to the edges of ponds or water features and can add authenticity to a dry creek bed construction. Some wetland plants, like irises, have an attractive flower that brings colour to these often overlooked areas of the landscape.
