Conifers are trees and shrubs that distribute their seeds in woody cones and usually have needles rather than leaves. Most conifers are evergreens, but there are deciduous exceptions (larch, dawn redwood, and swamp cypress). This family includes many familiar trees like pines, cedars, spruce, yew, and juniper.
Conifers are an iconic component of the Pacific Northwest landscape and will add natural, year round beauty to any garden. Conifers do well in locations where they will receive adequate water and sunlight. They work well as unique specimen trees and screening hedges.
